Accurate description

Good Taste Awards is an independent food and drink award focused on sensory pleasure under controlled blind conditions. Overall Liking is the sole primary candidate input. Consumer-side assessors remain a strict majority at every decision point, while relevant professionals contribute equally weighted responses, sensory explanation and bounded confirmation.

Products are assessed on their own evidence. The ordinary award is product-specific and non-comparative.

02

Controlled star meanings

Use the exact public phrases:

  • One Star — Excellent taste. Worth choosing.
  • Two Stars — Outstanding taste. Worth seeking out.
  • Three Stars — Exceptional taste. Worth making a special effort to experience.

Do not replace them with a publication's own scale as though it were the Good Taste Awards meaning.

03

Method facts

The following facts may be used with their stated boundaries:

  • assessment begins with eight valid responses;
  • higher candidates may progress to twelve, sixteen and twenty-four;
  • consumer-side assessors remain a strict majority at every stage;
  • brand, producer identity, identity-bearing packaging, price and expected result are withheld before independent response lock;
  • every eligible assessor has one equally weighted Overall Liking response;
  • professional confirmation cannot promote above the calculated candidate;
  • every product with a valid initial assessment receives a controlled product comment.

The panel is a controlled small panel, not a population-representative consumer survey.

04

Frequent errors to avoid

Do not describe a Good Taste Awards star as:

  • a food-safety or health certification;
  • proof that a product is the best in its category;
  • a vote by consumers as a whole;
  • an expert-only judgment;
  • a guarantee that everyone will like the product;
  • a company-wide award;
  • a ranking against named competitors.
05

Product and producer references

Check the public product record before reporting a star. A producer may hold several product-specific results. Use the exact product name, star and current status shown.

A producer statement, purchase link or company description remains separate from the Good Taste Awards assessment comment.

06

Official assets

Use the authorized Good Taste Awards identity and award-mark files supplied for the intended media use. Do not reconstruct, alter or add an unofficial star to the mark.

An image of an awarded product should not place the mark on another flavour or range item. Captions should identify the product accurately.

07

Method and standards sources

The standards hub provides controlled documents, fixed versions, requirement anchors and terms. Use the verification service for product results and the fixed-version standards pathway where a stable citation is required.

08

Interviews and factual inquiries

Use the media contact page for institutional, method or product-result questions. Include the intended publication, question, product or document identifier and response requirements.

Good Taste Awards does not disclose individual assessor responses, protected consumer identities, unpublished entries, provisional candidates or restricted review evidence.

09

Corrections

If a published article or supplied asset contains an identifiable factual error, use the correction pathway or media contact. Good Taste Awards may provide the current controlled source without asking a publication to adopt promotional wording.
