Help and Frequently Asked Questions

About the award

### What does Good Taste Awards recognize?

It recognizes the integrated sensory pleasure of a defined food or drink product under controlled blind conditions. Overall Liking is the sole primary candidate input.

Does the award assess health or safety?

No. Health, nutrition, safety and legal compliance are outside the star construct. Information in those areas may be required for responsible handling and lawful entry, but it does not earn a star.

Is it a ranking?

No. Products are assessed on their own evidence. An ordinary star does not say that a product defeated another product or is preferred by a population.

Are products compared only within a category?

No. Categories organize placement, preparation and discovery. They do not create a category contest.

02

About assessors

Are the assessors consumers or professionals?

Both tracks participate. Screened potential consumers and food enthusiasts form a strict consumer-side majority. Relevant professionals are present at controlled minimums.

Do professional votes count more?

No. Every eligible assessor contributes one equally weighted Overall Liking response. Professional confirmation has a separate bounded role and cannot promote above the calculated candidate.

Can a producer choose the panel?

No. Entrants cannot select or veto individual assessors.

Is the panel representative of all consumers?

No. It is a controlled small panel relevant to the predefined Target Population, not a population-representative survey.

03

About the process

Is the product tasted blind?

Brand, producer identity, identity-bearing packaging, price, reputation and expected result are withheld before independent response lock. Assessors still receive any limited product information needed for valid and responsible tasting.

How many people assess a product?

The initial stage contains eight valid responses. Higher candidates may progress to twelve, sixteen and, for the final stage, twenty-four.

Does every product reach twenty-four assessors?

No. Additional assessors are used only through authorized progression pathways.

When can assessors discuss the product?

After each person has recorded and locked the independent Overall Liking response. Discussion helps explain evidence and construct the comment; it does not reopen the response.

04

About results

What do the stars mean?

  • One Star — Excellent taste. Worth choosing.
  • Two Stars — Outstanding taste. Worth seeking out.
  • Three Stars — Exceptional taste. Worth making a special effort to experience.

Does a no-star product receive anything?

Every product with a valid initial assessment receives a controlled comment. No Star means that no star threshold was satisfied in that valid initial assessment.

Can a star be reviewed?

A review can examine process, calculation, data, scope, comment accuracy, publication and mark use. It does not replace a valid taste judgment with another preference vote.

Can a star later be corrected, suspended or withdrawn?

Yes, where the controlled evidence and authority require it. The public verification service shows the current authorized status.

05

About public products

How do I know a mark is genuine?

Search the product-specific result or use the verification identifier. The product name, producer, star and current status should match.

Does one awarded product mean the whole brand is awarded?

No. Recognition belongs to the exact assessed product.

Can I buy products through the directory?

The directory may link to verified producer or seller information. Good Taste Awards does not control availability, price, shipping or external commercial terms.

06

About standards and language

Can I read the method?

Yes. The standards hub provides topic pathways, controlled documents, fixed versions, requirements and terms authorized for publication.

Are category guides standards?

They are official non-normative guidance. They support placement and representative tasting but do not change the star method.

Which language is authoritative?

English is the sole authoritative language of the standards system. A translation, if offered for access, does not replace the English source.
