About

Governance and Independence

Independence is a set of controls

Good Taste Awards does not treat independence as a decorative claim. It separates authority, records decisions, controls conflicts and limits what each role may do.

The standards identify accountable owners for method, operations, data, publication, review and institutional governance. A person may hold several responsibilities only where the combination is permitted and does not defeat a required separation.

02

Standards Authority

The Standards Authority approves the controlled framework, terminology, star meanings, document status and material changes to the assessment system. It does not edit an individual product's liking evidence to obtain a preferred result.

Changes follow the controlled drafting, review, approval, version and supersession pathway. An active source is not replaced by a website statement or internal preference.

03

Method Authority

The Method Authority owns the assessed construct, Overall Liking role, evidence separation, panel pathway, candidate architecture, bounded confirmation and claims boundary.

Method ownership does not permit alteration of an individual result after evidence is seen. Decision rules and thresholds are controlled in advance.

04

Assessment operations

Operations determines eligibility, classification, sample quantity, receipt, storage, preparation, panel assignment, session control and incident handling under the applicable standards.

Entrants cannot select individual assessors, direct the serving room or negotiate a different progression pathway. An administrative decision is recorded against the source evidence and accountable role.

05

Data and decision control

Locked responses, candidate calculation, event history and result status use stable identities and controlled records. Raw evidence remains distinct from a public star or comment.

Automated calculation applies registered constants. A human cannot replace the candidate with a preferred number merely because the result is unexpected.

06

Result authorization

A candidate is not a result. Authorization checks product identity, valid responses, composition, calculation, confirmation, incident status and publication condition.

Award-mark use begins only after the authorized result and permission are recorded.

07

Independent review

Review examines process, calculation, data, scope, comment accuracy, publication or mark use. The challenged decision maker does not act as the sole independent reviewer of the same evidence.

Review can correct an error, determine invalidity or authorize reassessment. It cannot manufacture another preference vote because someone dislikes a valid outcome.

08

Assessor independence

Assessors are screened for employment, commercial, investment, consultancy, product-development, relational, gift, dispute and recognition conflicts. Temporary conditions affecting smell, taste, attention or judgment can also restrict assignment.

A post-lock concern is investigated through impact review. The original record is preserved rather than deleted without explanation.

09

Entrant and commercial boundaries

Entry fees do not influence assignment, progression, confirmation, result or directory order. Producer size, advertising, sponsorship or commercial importance does not create a different star pathway.

Where an external commercial link appears on a result page, it is separated from the assessment evidence.

10

Public identity

Good Taste Awards presents its own method and does not borrow authority through unsupported affiliation, comparison or implied endorsement. Public claims must match the controlled scope.

The award is described as product-specific taste recognition, not as a general certification or universal ranking.

11

Oversight and correction

Nonconformities, incidents, access events and corrective actions are recorded. A material unresolved issue places the affected object in a non-release state.

The public verification service shows enough current status to prevent reliance on an unauthorized result while protecting private assessor and review information.

12

Read the governing sources

The public document library contains the governance, method, standards, schedules and authorized projections behind these explanations.
