How It Works
The rules exist before the result
Panel counts, composition, response scale, candidate conditions, progression, confirmation, preservation, result states and review grounds are controlled before a product's evidence is seen.
They are not adjusted to fit a favoured product, rescue a near miss, make the awards more exclusive, or create a desired number of winners. A result is produced by the registered method, not by a target distribution.
The system distinguishes:
This separation prevents a polished public statement from becoming the source of its own validity. If a public page is corrected, the underlying evidence remains identifiable.
The original consumer and professional Overall Liking responses are retained as controlled records. A published score, star, comment or index is a representation and does not replace them.
Access is restricted because the records can contain private assessor information and non-public product evidence. Public transparency means the method and authorized result can be checked; it does not mean that every individual response is published.
A legitimate correction records what changed, why, who authorized it and which representation is current. It does not erase the earlier event as though it never existed.
Stable identifiers and event sequence allow an authorized reviewer to reconstruct the pathway from entry through result. A later explanation that exists only in memory is not a substitute for the record.
No one person should control product identity, prepare and serve the sample, facilitate the panel, authorize the result and independently review the same evidence.
The standards assign accountable roles and mandatory separations. A person may hold more than one organizational responsibility only where the specific combination is permitted and does not defeat independent control.
A material identity problem, too few valid responses, an invalid response condition, out-of-control preparation, a compromised blind, a non-comparable batch or a calculation issue is not explained away after the result.
The affected object enters a non-release state while the consequence and authorized disposition are recorded. Depending on the issue, the pathway may replace a response, repeat an affected service, require procedural reassessment, correct a representation or invalidate the assessment.
An entrant may request review of process, calculation, data, product scope, comment accuracy, publication or award-mark use. A review can correct an error or determine that a new controlled assessment is required.
A review does not replace a valid taste judgment merely because the entrant, another panel or the public might respond differently. Preference disagreement is not itself evidence of procedural error.
Where a confirmation disposition does not reach the required state, or where a role cannot resolve its own potential error, the matter moves to the assigned independent review authority.
Independent review examines the registered evidence and applicable rule. It does not add an unplanned liking vote or privately renegotiate the candidate.
A result may be active, corrected, suspended, restored or withdrawn according to the controlled record. The public product page and verification service display the current authorized status.
Restricted incident or review details remain protected. The public still receives enough information not to rely on an unauthorized mark or obsolete representation.
An award mark must match the correct product and star. The mark does not turn the product-specific result into a brand-wide endorsement. Misuse can be reported and may lead to correction, suspension or withdrawal under the applicable authority.
Verification connects the visible mark to the authorized public record.
The public standards reader provides the method, requirements, schedules, terms, relationships and fixed versions authorized for publication. Private assessor responses, restricted service records and unpublished results remain access controlled.
This is deliberate transparency: open rules and verifiable public outcomes without sacrificing personal data or assessment integrity.
