The Award
A taste award should answer a simple question clearly
Good Taste Awards exists to identify products that give people genuine sensory pleasure. It does not turn health, safety, packaging, price, prestige or technical conformity into a substitute for being enjoyable to eat or drink.
Confidence comes from five visible principles.
Assessors do not receive the brand, producer identity, price, packaging story or commercial reputation before recording their response. Only information needed for safe participation and a representative tasting is retained.
This allows the product to make its own first impression. Read about blind and independent assessment.
Every assessor answers the same Overall Liking question before discussion. Sensory observations explain the response, but a technical strength cannot overrule a lack of pleasure.
A product does not earn recognition merely because it is complex, traditional, intense, unusual or expertly made. See how liking and sensory evidence work together.
Panels combine screened potential consumers and food enthusiasts with professionals. Consumer-side assessors remain a strict majority at each decision point, and every valid liking response carries equal weight.
The relevant consumer group is defined for the product. Good Taste Awards therefore does not claim that taste exists independently of people or that one result proves universal preference. Understand assessors and panels.
Assessment begins with eight valid responses. Products supported for higher recognition move through larger panels, reaching twenty-four for the final Three-Star decision. This adds evidence where the public claim is strongest without imposing the largest panel on every entry.
The progression rules are set before the product is assessed. See the progressive assessment pathway.
Each result belongs to one assessed product. It is not automatically transferred to a producer, range, recipe variation or later reformulation. A star recognizes taste; it does not certify health, safety, nutrition, sustainability, authenticity, price or value.
Published awards can be checked against the current product record. Every product with a valid initial assessment also receives a comment explaining the experience behind its result.
The public method explains what happens from product entry to result. The standards state the controlling requirements, and the verification service shows whether an award claim matches an active product record.
